Claudia Tomassini

a native of Italy, has worked in communications for more than 15 years. She has represented award-winning films at the main international festivals as an international publicist. Claudia has worked with directors such as Daniel Burman, Alex Gibney, Joshua Marston, Albert Maysles, Nanni Moretti, Ferzan Ozpetek, Laura Poitras, Robert Redford, Jacques Rivette, Giuseppe Tornatore, Wim Wenders and with actors such as Monica Bellucci, Juliette Binoche, Jane Birkin, Valeria Golino, Noomi Rapace and John Turturro.

Claudia is known for her individual campaigns that play to the strengths of the specific film. An example is her work for production and international publicity for the Academy Award-winning documentary CITIZENFOUR by Laura Poitras, whose films THE OATH and RISK she also represented at the Berlinale and Cannes, respectively. At this´ year Berlinale among the films she represented are Joaquim by Marcelo Gomes in Competition, the bomb by Kevin Ford, Smriti Keshari and Eric Schlosser in Berlinale Special and the Panorama Audience Award winning film Insyriated by Philippe van Leeuw starring Hiam Abbass. Since 2004 she divides her time between New York, Germany and Italy where she also promotes numerous film festivals and film-related events.

Claudia has long-standing client relationships with private and public institutions. In the US, she has collaborated with institutions such as the Film Society of Lincoln Center - Walter Reade Theater, MoMA - Museum of Modern Art, Film Department, Brooklyn Academy of Music-BAM, The Producers Guild of America, NYWIF - New York Women in Film and Television. Among the German institutions she has worked with are the Berlin International Filmfestival, Staatliche Museen zu Berlin, Kino Arsenal, Filmmuseum Berlin or the Filmfest Munich. Among her clients are Participant Media, The Orchard, Films Boutique, FiGa Film, Cinephil, Doc & Film, Urban, Fandango, Cattleya, Rai Cinema, Rai Com, Medusa Film, and Filmitalia/ Cinecittà. The trade institutions she has represented and consulted include Cinema Chile, Bridging the Dragon, the Trentino Film Commission, the Film Commission Torino Piemonte and BLS Südtirol Alto Adige, the Film Fund and Commission of South Tyrol. Among festivals, she counts the Bellaria Biografilm Festival Bologna /I Wonder Pictures and the coproduction markets When East Meets West (Trieste) among her clients. 

Claudia started her career as a freelance journalist in Rome. Moving to Berlin in 1996, she was responsible for the film programming and press office of the Cultural Department of the Italian Embassy in Berlin until 2003. During that time, she created several retrospectives and founded the Immaginale section of interfilm, the International Short Film Festival Berlin.
