FILMFEST MÜNCHEN: ONE-FUTURE-PRIZE for CUORI PURI by Roberto de Paolis
Berlin, July 3, 2017. The One Future Prize awarded by the Lutheran Interfilm Academy went to "Pure Hearts" by Italian filmmaker Roberto de Paolis. The jury explained their decision: "Roberto de Paolis' multi-faceted debut film gives us an intelligent and moving look at the social problems of modern-day Italy. What at first seems to be a love story between two young people from very different backgrounds turns into a story of the modern refugee crisis."
The jury is composed of Dr. Peter Marinkovi, director of Interfilm-Akademie; Fatima Geza Abdollahyan, director and film editor at Bayerischer Rundfunk; Svetlana Belesova, M.A., actress and media scientist and Sampaguita I. Mönck, musical actress.
CUORI PURI tells the story of Agnese and Stefano - two young people who are profoundly different. She is only seventeen, lives with her mother (a harsh but devoted woman and a regular church-goer) and is about to take a vow of chastity to last until marriage. He is a 25 year old man, with a violent temper and a difficult past behind, who works as a warden in a car park that borders with a gypsy camp. Their unexpected meeting engenders a sentiment of purity, made of little stolen moments and mutual help. But when they make love for the first time, Agnese s illusion of purity is shattered. She experiences a deep sense of betrayal towards her ideals, which leads her to take an extreme decision in the hope of erasing her sin.
The ONE FUTURE PRIZE is presented since 1986 to the film that, “ethically as well as aesthetically, shows that our world has one common future.” Previous Winners amongst others: “Babai” by Visar Morina (2015) and “Salt of the Earth” by Wim Wenders and Juliano Ribeiro Salgado (2014), "The White Space” by Francesca Comencini (2010), "PA RA DA" by Marco Pontecorvo (2009)
The Italian presence in Munich is coordinated by Filmitalia together with the Italian Trade Commission.
